Thorburn Cottage

The cottage was super cute and perfect for our stay! My mom needs some extra help these days so the upstairs bathroom made it so she could go a bazillion times throughout the night without having to negotiate the somewhat steep staircase. The kitchen was perfect for making dinner and made us WANT to do the dishes with the gorgeous view. The property managers were very responsive with the small adjustment we needed. Would love to come back! Felt like the calm and inviting atmosphere we were looking for.

Perfect cottage for our sisters weekend getaway. We had a lovely time hanging on on the porch, walking, and exploring Harpswell. The cottage was exactly as described and very clean. Highly recommended to others seeking a special getaway.

Overall an excellent experience. Property management was very responsive when a non working coffee maker was replaced same day. The dock on the shore was a little complicated to navigate since the walkway was no longer connected to the dock. A storm damaged them earlier in the year. But wading in to swim worked well at mid and high tide.

This is a lovely cottage with all of the charm of a typical Maine camp. It’s age was part of the appeal for us, the steep steps were not a problem for us, and we were fine with the squeaky Floors, but it might be an issue for some. This is a perfect location in Harpswell for accessing other attractions, we especially loved Stovers Point Preserve which is just down the road. The view from the porch is beautiful, and the area is exceptionally quiet. They’re very very friendly neighbors that were happy to provide information. The cottage sits up on a hill, with water access down the hill, a 4-5 min walk. But be aware, hauling kayaks back to the cottage is a 2 person job for something like a sea kayak. We rented from Seaspray for 3?days which was plenty of time. I would definitely stay here again and would like to see it available for long weekends. My only disappointment was the condition of the cookware- scratched and rusted Teflon. I went home for some errands and brought my own pans back.

Cottage is located in a village of non-rental cottages on an open field on a hilltop. View of ocean is nice. Only downside is that the cottage is pet friendly and there was a damp dog stink on couches and rugs. Other than that, it was a home run.

This is the 3rd time we've stayed at the cottage. MaineStay Vacations is terrific. The microwave died, and they were speedy in replacing it. My requests for additional linens is always rewarded with an immense supply of towels, sheets, etc.

The cottage itself is due for some renovation---exterior painting, replacement of screen doors and porch chairs, updating of kitchen basics (silverware and utensils, pots, coffee maker, etc.)

We spent an awesome family vacation to this cottage. At first it may feel a little small for a family of five, but with a bit of organization, there was plenty of room. Outr children (5, 2 and 2 months old) loved the place, and the large grass areas made for some great fun.

Quiet little seaside getaway. Perfect for us and our small dog - with gorgeous sunrises over the water. A great big porch for morning coffee (or evening wine). A very relaxing place to stay.

37 Thorburn Cottage is appointed with many comfortable features, including beautiful views, a lovely porch for relaxing or dining on, fun places to gather and play games, a good size kitchen. At the same time, it feels authentically “Maine Camp!”

Rustic cottage located on open grounds great for walking. The stairs are very steep and tricky for dogs and people.

The view of the water was spectacular. The memory of that serene water view will sustain me through the winter.
