About

Nestled in a canopy of green with beautiful westerly views from Broad Sound to Casco Bay, Bober Cottage has 185ft of private shoreline that offers the perfect setting for your getaway to the coast of Maine.

You’ll love the privacy of this property, easy access to coastal restaurants, and a full service marina for endless adventures.

Inside the cottage, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, a full bathroom with a walk-in shower, a second floor master bedroom, and a tiny first floor bedroom with twin bunk beds (ideal for children), and a comfortable living room to enjoy the stunning sunsets over the bay.

Outside, you’ll find Adirondacks and a stone fire pit overlooking the ocean. A lush lawn with a stairway leading to a ragged shoreline which is a perfect place to hunt for sea glass, swim, or simply sit and enjoy the view.

We encourage all guests to visit to view many more photos and to learn about the history and surrounds of this beloved retreat.

Things to Consider

As the reviews suggest,  Bober Cottage is thoughtfully organized with many cute touches. Please note, however, that its proportions are small. Some families love the scale because it encourages togetherness, but that is not to everyone's taste. Before booking please consider if 528 (charming) square feet would be right for you.

The ceiling height in the master bedroom (second floor) is approx. 5'10"—perfect for sitting and sleeping, but could be challenging if you are tall. The children's bedroom has a bunk bed that takes up most of the room. It is perfectly cozy for children, but not suitable for adults.

The cottage décor includes family heirlooms. On the north side is a bronze nude figure sculpted by Christopher Cairns. Lazarus, the saint who miraculously came back to life, rises from a patch of grass and points toward the ocean.

The natural surrounds of the cottage include animals. In addition to an array of birds, chipmunks, and friendly neighborhood dogs, it is not uncommon to see foxes, porcupines, and skunks.

As with most properties that rely on wells, the water can be limited by rainfall. We ask guests to conserve water and report any issues with drips, leaks, or outages so they may be addressed immediately.

If you are looking for a cookie-cutter hotel or resort experience, then Bober Cottage is not for you. It is ideal for those who appreciate an intimate setting within a few feet of the rocky coast, sunsets from a picture window, and a quaint cottage that has been cherished for three generations.

Sorry, Pets are not allowed at this property.

Bober Cottage does not have a washer and dryer, but there is a laundromat in Brunswick, just 20 minutes away.

My husband and I loved Bober Cottage. The privacy, location, proximity to two good restaurants were excellent features for us. The house is small but well appointed; would recommend highly for 2 adults. Gorgeous sunsets, evening fires outdoors overlooking the water, rock collecting on the private shoreline during low tide - just what we were hoping for. The bathroom is very small but manageable. The kitchen, living room and upstairs bedroom had everything we needed. Service from MaineStay was great. We would rent again.

The cottage is very private even though it sits right across the street from Erica's Seafood which is a very busy place. When you first drive in, you fall in love with the view, the trees, the house, just everything. If you read the description, the house is small. And I mean small. It worked out for me and my grandson but I don't know how it would work with 3 adults. The bathroom is VERY small so large people would not find it comfortable. That being said, it have EVERYTHING you would need. All labeled and in it's place. Every kitchen item, bathroom stuff, games and much more. Highlights....hearing the water splash against the cliffs at night. Watching my grandson run along the beach looking for shells and sea glass and using his imagination in his makebelieve world. Playing monopoly or clue from vintage games boards. (I really wanted to take them home) Sitting by the firepit having smores and hot dogs. I didn't like the fact I had to pay for the sheets and towels but they were so crisp and comfortable I let it pass. When I first walked in, I was worried because it was rustic looking but as the week went on, I came to the conclusion that it was the new "farmhouse chic". It was clean and basically all new even though it looked older at first glance. I really enjoyed the place and enjoyed my time there. I don't think I would recommend to 3 or 4 adults but maybe it would work. It would work with 2 adults and 2 children. If I have the chance, I will return.....
