On a one-acre lot with large sloping yard to the shore, you can walk from the home to your own private waterfront access on a quiet, tidal cove, ideal for high-tide swimming or launching your kayak. You'll love exploring all the islands have to offer during the day and retreating to the cottage in the evenings to catch the gorgeous pink, purple and orange hues of a Harpswell sunset.

Inside the cottage you'll find an open concept kitchen, living and dining with beautiful westerly views of the cove, three bedrooms, and one full bathroom with a shower/tub combo. Buy some local seafood and come back to the cottage to enjoy a lobster bake or take a short drive to one of the few great restaurants, and don't forget to stop by the Island Candy Company for a sweet treat! You'll also love being just a short walk away from Lowell's Cove, a great small sandy/pebbly beach, great for beachcombing, swimming, and soaking up the sun.

Property Needs Attention

We stayed for 3 nights over the 4th of July. It was apparent the property needs more attention and maintenance. The lawn was overgrown, dust and dirt behind furniture, bent bed frames, and lots of disgusting bugs! Although someone came out to mow after I notified the company and there was an offer of new bed frame slats (this wouldn’t have fixed the issue), it didn’t make up for the issues. We were uncomfortable and pretty grossed out the whole stay.

We're very sorry to hear that your time at Aweighs Away was not what you had hoped for. Being a small, local company, we care deeply about our guests and truly want them to have a wonderful vacation. After receiving your feedback, we discussed possible solutions with the owners and worked together to add Air Conditioning window units throughout the house and we replaced the twin trundle bed with a new queen mattress and frame. We're very sorry we did not know about the bent frame prior to your stay, as we certainly would have addressed it. Good sleep is one of the most important parts of a great vacation! We're hoping the new mattress and frame will provide more comfortable sleeping conditions for that bedroom and the new air conditioning units help to cool the house and reduce the opportunity for dust, dirt and bugs to enter the home from outdoors with the windows closed and ACs on. Again, we're very sorry for these issues during your stay, but truly appreciate your honest feedback, giving us the opportunity to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again sometime in hopes of hosting a much more comfortable vacation for you.

Comfortable Stay, But Some Aspects Need Improvement

For the price paid, the rental felt a bit dated and did not provide good overall value. While portable fans were provided, ceiling fans would have been more appropriate and effective. The proximity of what looked like an abandoned home next door was a bit unsettling and detracted from the overall ambiance. Although the property offers a nice view, accessing the water was challenging due to a difficult path, which was really disappointing. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable.

Orr's Island Cottage

Quiet cottage in a great location to explore Orr's and Bailey's Islands as well as the greater region. Quiet. Nice views from many rooms of Beal's Cove. Quick walk to several swimming areas. The one on the property is convenient but a steep walk down to the water. Kitchen is very functional. Overall, very nice place.

This house on the cove was clean and comfortable. In a picturesque area of Maine there were lots of hiking areas as well as quiet areas along the coast for relaxation. You could also just sit in one of the Adirondack chairs provided for views of the cove. Lots of lobsters and clams for cooking in the well-equipped kitchen.

Not many restaurants in nearby but that keeps the crowds down. Don't miss Giant Stairs and Mackerel Cove.

Beautiful Location for Our First Visit to Maine

Absolutely perfect! This was a spur of the moment trip to visit Maine for leaf peeping and it did not disappoint. We could not have chosen a better location to stay. It was private with a beautiful view of the Beal's Cove shore. Each night we slept with the window open (unheard of in Texas) and enjoyed coffee overlooking the back yard view each morning. The bed was comfortable, shower pressure was great and we had all the amenities we needed including a washer and dryer. While we didn't use the kitchen, it had everything you would need to cook meals. It very much felt like home! We would absolutely consider staying at this property again and definitely on Orrs Island.

The cottage was a jewel. Easy to get to off main road but quiet. The view from the numerous windows was stunning, and the bonus of a “private feeling” cove where you could walk and sit and enjoy the small beach was icing on the cake!

Great Place

Worked great for my family with two small boys. They loved the cove. Close to lot’s of attractions. Giant’s Steps and Land’s End were favorites. Very responsive management. Will consider renting again.
