Having undergone a foundation-up renovation completed in August 2011, Homeport offers a modern design, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent views of Mackerel Cove and Mackerel Cove beach. Settled among houses that have come down through generations of lobstermen, this home offers a desirable location on Bailey Island within walking distance of the Bailey Island General Store, Land's End Gift Shop, and several beaches. The dramatic sunsets and the sense of being surrounded by water truly brings home that you are vacationing on the coast of Maine. The Mackerel Cove waterfront views stretch across all manner of moored boats and lobster docks out to open ocean. Ocean breezes chase hot summer days as they ease into starry nights.
This setting is the ideal place to set out to explore the "rocky coast of Maine" and return to the comfortable home at the end of the day. Venture behind the house and down a conveniently located boardwalk to a semi private sandy beach to search for sea glass and shells, or to take a swim. Homeport will surely leave an impression on your heart and keep you coming back year after year to make new memories on the coast of Maine.
One dog per party welcome at Homeport (a non-refundable pet fee applies).

This is our second stay at Homeport (the first one was 7 years ago!) and we couldn't have loved it more. The location is amazing - right at the end of Mackerel Cove - with views on the front and back. The kitchen is great - really well equipped and we loved our stay!

4 family members stayed at this comfortable house. It has wonderful views, a nearby beach, many walking opportunities and lots of places to sit, chat and relax. It is nicely furnished with comfortable coastal decor that makes you feel like you are at home. A walk to the nearby General Store allowed my son and I a chance to catch up and we sat outside to enjoy some terrific sandwiches for lunch. There are lots of places to go and then you come back home to the cottage that really feels like home. And my dog liked it too!

We loved staying in this house, which we have walked by so many times in the past and admired. The location is perfect for kayaking (water access to the back and the front and kayaks can be left on the boardwalk in the back for extra convenience). Lots of activity during the day to watch and enjoy. Bedroom suite with bath on the first floor is perfect for elderly guests who don't do stairs. The front porch and upper balcony were wonderful places to enjoy the views! Plan to return.

We had been renting another home (by owner) until they sold their home during COVID. We loved the house and loved the area. When we found the house through MaineStay we were skeptical. When our vacation was over (unfortunately over) we were thrilled. Everything was seamless. The online booking was easy. I had a couple questions which I picked up the phone for. The girls were very accommodating on the phone. It was our first vacation in 2+ years......and well worth the wait.

'Homeport' is the perfect Maine beach house. Our family of five truly enjoyed our stay as the house was in the perfect location on Bailey Island with direct access to a private family friendly beach. The house was very clean and provided us with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I highly recommend 'Homeport' if you are looking for a fun, relaxing place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Maine!

We came here two years ago and never wanted to go home again. Bailey Island is so peaceful and this house in particular is perfect because of its location. Most relaxing vacation I've ever had!
This was our family’s first stay at Homeport and it was outstanding! The location of this home could not be better or more convenient. There are beautiful views in every direction. We loved the easy access to beaches in front of and behind the house which made our stay with our two young children and dog so much more relaxing. The house was lovely, comfortable and well-equipped and the team from MaineStay was extremely responsive. Can’t wait to return!
